Valentines Day Options on the South Shore

Valentine’s Day is Thursday, and with the Blizzard of 2013 (sorry, just can’t call it Nemo), still wreaking havoc on the power lines, you may be hoping for a hot night at home. Literally. With the heat & electricity actually on.

If, however, you would like to venture out, many restaurants on the South Shore have special menus, deals and entertainment for your Valentine’s dining pleasure. Even better, most places are extending their Valentine’s celebrations through the weekend. Here are some of the dining options that are available.

Sun Tavern in Duxbury  While hoping to have power by Tuesday, has a HUGE Valentine’s menu, including coconut shrimp, Island Creek Oysters, Salmon, Scallops, and black Angus Elite steaks.

Abby Park in  Milton has a special menu and a “Love Potions” drink menu for the night. An example of such a potion is the Cherub’s Cup: vodka, st. germain, fresh lemon, simple syrup, muddled strawberry and champagne.

Fruit Center in Hingham: will be offering and-dipped chocolate covered strawberries once again this year. They hand-dip them right in our stores using ripe, juicy strawberries. They also have gift-wrapped bags of chocolates and wine bottles. In addition, in their Milton location, there is wine dinner event on Feb 15,  featuring wine makers from France and Spain

Scarlet Oak Tavern is serving their regular menu, in addition to Valentine’s specials, truffles for guests and special desserts.

Caffe Tosca has revised their reservation policy in honor of V-day. They are accepting reservations for parties of 6 or fewer. Their websites features their special menu, which will run through the weekend.

 Square Cafe will be featuring Valentine’s day specials, which will run through the weekend. They are almost booked up, however, so call soon if you are interested.

 Roo Bar  in Plymouth will have a special prix fixe menu for $75 per couple. Three courses and live entertainment with GQ and the Lady! The prix fixe is available all weekend through the 17th.

Patritzia’s Italy Trattoria in Plymouth gets the most interesting menu award! It  includes strawberry risotto topped with poppyseed encrusted tuna, venison filet with apple-cream mousse and pine niddle sauce, pan-seared duck breast with fennel-potato mash and kumquat citrus sauce, roasted tomato encrusted chiliean seabass in Vernaccia wine sauce accompanied with artichoke mousse and fried zucchini blossom stuffed with mozzarella. This menu is available through the weekend as well.

 Waterfront Bar and Grill in Plymouth will be serving their regular menu as we’ll as a special Valentine’s special menu which will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

 Orta Restaurant and the Grotto in Pembroke has a special Menu that night.

Paragon Grill at the Nantasket Beach Resort has a Prix Fixe menu for $35 per person AND special hotel rates. This runs through the weekend.

Rick’s Café in Randolph has a special menu: Dinner for Two $39.95 includes: Choice of soup or tossed salad, Two Entree’s, Two Desserts- Hot Fudge Sundae, Carrot Cake, Vanilla Cheesecake *Add a bottle of wine to make it $49.95.

If you can’t get out, but still want to send something special,

Baked in Scituate is delivering an assortment of sweets. $10 for the first 10 miles, $1 each additional mile. Order such delights as Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, Chocolate Covered Gingerbread, White Chocolate and Cranberry and Pecan Bark, Cupcake Truffles and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries.
