Guest Blog Post from Nix’s Plymouth
April 11, 2013; Plymouth, MA – With sweeping views of Plymouth Harbor and a just short distance from historical sites like Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II, Nix’s Plymouth opened April 12, becoming the newest addition to the birthplace of America. A casual outpost of award-winning Nix’s Mate in Boston, Nix’s Plymouth is inspired by its sophisticated sibling’s creative interpretations of seasonal, New England fare.
“Heading into the summer season, Nix’s Plymouth is the South Shore’s top destination for polished-yet-fun food, handcrafted cocktails, local & craft beers, a broad wine selection, outdoor dining on the patio, raw bar, live music from local ands and DJs, and dancing,” says GM Greg Mitchell.
Paying tribute to the Boston Harbor Islands with New England classics and colorful interpretations (Nix’s Mate is named after a harbor island infamous for pirate executions in the 1600s), the eclectic menu at Nix’s Plymouth features starters, raw bar, “flats,” burgers & sandwiches, “from the pit” BBQ staples, and mains.
Menu highlights include:
· Quahog & Bacon Corn Fritter “Lollipops” with Ginger Sauce & Coriander Cream
· Boston Baked Bean Dip with Cheddar Cheese & Brown Tortillas
· NC Pulled Pork Quesadillas with Manchego, Cole Slaw & Pico de Gallo
· Dry-Rubbed Slow Smoked Texas Beef Brisket with Sweet BBQ Sauce & Lava Soaked Pineapples
· Nix’s Lobster Carmel, Crisp Lobster over a Double Cream Cheddar Sauce with Sliced Chilies & Microcress
o Named one of the “Best Dishes of 2012” by The Boston Globe
· Knuckle Sandwiches of Lobster Knuckle Meat with Chipotle Aioli & Crispy Shallot O-rings
The menu is complemented by 17 draft & 12 bottled beers, a diverse wine list of Old World and New World varietals, and an interesting selection of nautical-themed handcrafted cocktails (Plymouth Smash: Stoli Blueberi, Blueberry Puree, Fresh Lemon Juice, Blueberries; Stay Afloat: Hendricks, Fresh Watermelon Puree, Fresh Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup; The Helmsman: Captain Morgan, Root Liquor, Fresh Lime Juice, Golden Honey).
Designed by noted event & interior designer Michael Nedeau of PBD Events in Quincy, Nix’s Plymouth reflects the rough seas of Plymouth’s coastline with slate gray suede booths, light reclaimed wood tables, and a large granite, u-shaped bar with high-definition TVs scattered throughout to catch the latest game. Additionally, a large back patio overlooks Plymouth Harbor with stadium-style levels and a projector for large-scale TV viewing. The back room and raw bar, opening this summer, will be an ideal spot for private dining and special events.
